The police in Ogun State have quietly declared wanted, the main suspect in the heinous crime of murder of a couple, Kehinde and Bukola Fatinoye, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
It was learnt that the suspect who was earlier arrested in connection with the arson and murder against the Fatinoyes, escaped from the police custody.
Before the shocking escape, the suspect simply identified as Lekan, was said to have been kept in a facility within Ibara Police Divisional Headquarter following his arrest on Tuesday.
His escape came at a time Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, who is the chief security officer, asked the security agencies to go after the staff of the slain couple Fatinoye
The suspect was said to have driven Mrs Fatinoye for barely two years.
Mrs Bukola Fatinoye until her gruesome killing, was a senior staff of the Federal University of Agriculture, FUNAAB, Abeokuta while her husband, Kehinde was a staff of Central Bank of Nigeria.
Lekan, it was learnt, feigned sick and dying at Ibara Police Station custody during investigation and was quickly taken to a healthcare facility in Abeokuta but while he was being revived from his ‘faked health condition,’ he managed to escape from his handlers.
He was said to have accessed his escape routes around the police zone 2 and Iweiroyin press centre area of Okelewo, Abeokuta.
The ugly development, it was learnt, forced the police to subtly declare Lekan wanted and launched manhunt for him.
Reacting, Superintendent of Police; Abimbola Oyeyemi, who is the spokesman of the Ogun State Police Command, said the police would address the press on the matter at the appropriate time.
“Well, we will brief the press at our appropriate time. We are still on our investigation. And when we reached the level we want in our investigation, we will brief the press,” Oyeyemi said.
