Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru has handed down to three of his commissioners one – month suspension for absenteeism.
The affected commissioners who were also stripped of their privileges for the duration of the suspension, are Victor Chukwu, Environment; Ikeuwa Omebe Ministry of Rural Development and Solomon Azi, Grants and Donor Agencies.
The Commissioner of Information and State Orientation, Mr. Jude Okpor, said the three were suspended for being absent without any permission during the State Executive Council meeting on Monday.
Okpor told journalists that the Governor had warned against absenteeism and lackadaisical attitude to work by public servants in the state.
He said that Gov Nwifuru also directed that the suspended commissioners be relieved of all the privileges attached to their offices within the duration of the suspension.
According to him, the Governor used the opportunity to also warn all contractors handling government projects in the state to expedite efforts in the delivery of such projects in accordance with contractual agreements.
He said that the government would no longer hesitate to use all legal means to enforce compliance.
