A Federal High Court in Lagos has adjourned until January 29 and 30, 2025, the N5 billion copyright lawsuit against Popular gospel musician, Osinachi Kalu, known professionally as Sinach over ‘Way Maker,’ her 2016 hit song.
In the suit marked FHC/L/CS/402/2024, music producer, Michael Oluwole sued Sinach over alleged copyright infringement.
Maye is seeking a declaration that he is an author and co-owner of the song. He is also demanding general damages of N5 billion for cumulative infringement of his rights.
The trial began on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
Spinach denied the producer’s claims, arguing that she was the sole authorship of the song, adding that she had achieved global recognition before ‘Way Maker’ song.
The Court adjourned the matter until January 29 and 30, 2025 for further trial.
