The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation course will begin on April 22 across the country.
This was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, who outlined key dates and important guidelines for prospective corps members.
According to the statement, the three-week orientation programme will take place simultaneously in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Registration and reception of participants will commence on April 22 and conclude at midnight on April 24 in all orientation camps nationwide.
The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for April 24, marking the official start of camp activities. The orientation exercise will run until May 12, after which corps members will be deployed to their various places of primary assignment.
The NYSC urged all mobilised graduates to travel safely to their respective camps ahead of the programme. It specifically warned against night travel, advising participants to halt their journeys by 6:00 p.m. and lodge in safe locations before continuing the next day.
The scheme emphasized that adherence to these safety guidelines is essential for all prospective corps members.
The NYSC orientation course is a mandatory programme aimed at preparing Nigerian graduates for the one-year national service. Established in 1973, the scheme seeks to foster national unity by posting graduates to states outside their regions of origin.
