LOKOJA: A Kogi State High Court sitting in Lokoja, the State capital, has sacked the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammed Tijani Anaje, from the royal stool.
The Daily Crucible reports that Anaje was appointed as Ohinoyi of Ebira Land by the former governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, in January, 2024, at the twilight of his administration.
However, Hon. Justice Salisu Umar, the presiding judge of High Court 6 in Lokoja, in his ruling on Monday, made an order directing the defendant (Anaje) in a suit before him to stop parading himself as the paramount traditional ruler of Ebiraland.
Though the court was yet to make available details of the judgement, it was learnt that the case with Suit Number HCO/05C/2024, was filed by Dr. Barnabas Adeku Ojiah and two others against the Governor of Kogi State, according to Leadership.
The paper reported that bids to get the embattled Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammed Tajani Anaje, to comment on the court ruling proved unsuccessful.
The monarch’s cell phones were switched off, it was learnt on Monday.
