A chieftain of the opposition Labour Party (LP) in Ogun State, Dr Abayomi Arabambi, has slammed Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration over what he considered as its ‘infrastructural genocide’ against Egbaland, urging the Governor to immediately stop positioning Ogun Central like a “conquered territory.”
Arabambi stated this yesterday in a chat with some pressmen in Abeokuta while reacting to a statement allegedly issued by the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), Ogun State Branch, claiming that the Abiodun’s administration had concluded plans to subtly relocate the Ogun State Commissioners’ Quarters, Legislative Quarters, and Kobape Mechanic Village through the State Ministry of Housing, under the guise of Housing Regeneration Project despite been a public utilities
But an aide of Governor Dapo Abiodun has dismissed the CDHR’s allegations on which Arabambi relied on to make his ‘infrastructural genocide’ remark.
The Governor’s aide stated, “There is no truth in those above allegations sir to the best of my knowledge.”
However, the National Publicity Secretary of the Barr. Julius Abure – led Labour Party, said that if the CDHR’s allegation is true, Abiodun should immediately halt such attitude of grab and privatize state lands and property, especially in Egbaland, and focus on building road infrastructure that is seriously needed by the citizens.
He said “infrastructural genocide” is an expression he personally coined for lack of appropriate word or terminology to describe the systemic eroding of the state – owned legacy public infrastructure in the state, especially in Egbaland on the watch of Governor Dapo Abiodun since hours after his second term in office began.
The Lp chieftain also condemned the recently monetized political endorsement by a self appointed voice in Egba Land despite the despicable challenges facing Egba Land under the current APC led Administration. He described it as absolute balderdash and absurd for any one to be engaged in any form of political endorsement which is not only reckless but wholesomely inordinate.
He warned that whoever bought any of the property listed by the CDHR would definitely lose it as such illegal sale and purchase would be vehemently challenged in the court of law even as he called on some leaders in Egba Land who are afraid or intimidated to speak the truth
Arabambi said Egba Land political Leaders like Fmr Gov Amosun, Hon Dimeji Bankole , Sen Iyabo Obasanjo, Hon Kayode Amusan, Alh Sarafa Tunji Ishola, Hon Sabur Sina Aroyeun, Chief Segun Showunmi, Hon Titi Oseni Shodunke, Dr Remi Bakare and ALh Bakai Okedara who are undisputedly illustrious Sons and Daughters of Egba Land must act like Lisabi warrior and must not be seen to be afraid to stand on the side of the people.
In the words of Martins Luther king Jr. “ Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” He advises them to speak out now rather than hiding , afraid or maintaining a deafening silence against the seemingly conquest mission of Gov Dapo Abiodun against Egba Land through Infrastructural Genocide that can bring Egba Land traditional institutions under Kabiyesi Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egba Land , our Culture and heritage into total extinctions and a capture territory
He noted that building new Legislative and Commissioners’ Quarters as alleged by the CDHR should not be a priority to an administration that is almost in the twilight its second term in office.
According to most non-controversial,most non-confrontational LP chieftain, what the Egba people urgently needed now are good road networks, improved infrastructure, and responsive governance, not demolition, unconstitutional relocation, land grabbing, and self – serving draining of public resources disguised as property regeneration.
Finally, the Olori-Omoluabi Of Egba Land concluded that Ogun State Government is here-by warned through this press statement that Egba Land can not be relegated to servitude with impunity. Any form of economic apartheid , discrimination, oppression, injustice , intimidation , political & infrastructural genocide will be challenged lawfully
