In a bid to foster economic growth and alleviate poverty, the Toyin Amuzu Foundation (TAF) has empowered 100 people in Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State with Point Of Sales (POS) terminals, business name registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), cash gifts and kiosks.
Chief Toyin Amuzu, the 2023 House Representatives candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, while addressing the beneficiaries described the initiative as a strategic effort to empower youths to be self-dependent, enhance economic opportunities and create jobs within the community.
He noted that the initiative was to ease economy hardship facing Nigerians as he thought it wise to empower them and take some off the streets.
“This initiative is a non-profit, non-governmental and non-political efforts by the Toyin Amuzu Foundation aimed at improving the lives of our people in Abeokuta South,” he said.
He highlighted the foundation’s track record in philanthropy, which includes interest-free loans for small and medium-scale enterprises, borehole water projects for over 20 communities and various empowerment programs for youths and women in Abeokuta South federal constituency.
With this latest initiative, Amuzu emphasized that TAF is deepening its commitment to economic development by providing these small scale entrepreneurs with the necessary tools to formalize their businesses and access growth opportunities.
“This initiative is to get at least 200 people off the street, i believe if i can empower 100 people they can as well employe one person each, because when they resume in the morning and feel they are tired by afternoon, someone else take over till evening. The person will be paid at the end of the month, we thought it wise to do business registration for them and we were like what’s business registration without work,we decided to get them POS machines, we thought it wise again that why would they be standing in the sun so much to operate the business? What happens during rainy season? We decided to get them kiosks for cover to support them.”
I am not doing this because i am a PDP member . I’m doing this because i understand that the economy is not friendly now and its not okay to just be giving them money so i decided to empower them with business which i believe will help them more, many of the beneficiaries are not PDP members at least 15 of them are, others are picked randomly from the streets of Abeokuta south for empowerment.” He said
Speaking with Journalist after presentation of Cash,CAC certificates and kiosks he noted that “As Nigeria continues to tackle economic challenges, interventions like the Toyin Amuzu Foundation’s initiative serve as a model for private-sector-driven empowerment, demonstrating how strategic support can drive economic resilience and growth.
Also speaking at the presentation of certificates, the PDP Hon Abayomi Nureni Tella call on members to be unite for 2027,the advised that they should not look at faces to unite with one another but should aim at benefits coming from such person. While calling on beneficiary not to let TA down in his ambition towards House of Representative goal when the needs arises, they should remember the day he was there when no one shows up.
The chairman also urge the women to pray for the party because their prayer means a lot.
