In the wake of recent defections by some political figures to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a chieftain of Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on loyal party members not to lose heart but rather remain resolute in the struggle to reclaim power from those who have betrayed the people’s trust.
Sorunke, popularly known as “AK is OK!” and a respected PDP member in Abeokuta South Constituency 1, described the wave of defections as “a desperate and dishonourable exodus of political wolves whose only goal is to feed off the people, not serve them.”
According to him, “these are not leaders; they are opportunists,” he said.
“They lack integrity and their movement reeks of betrayal. This is not about ideology or progress, it is about self-interest.”
The grassroots politician and mobilizer who is a committed voice of his people, noted that those defecting to the APC are aligning with a party that has inflicted unprecedented hardship on Nigerians, both at the state and national levels.
“The APC has failed. The people are groaning under the weight of bad governance, hunger, inflation, insecurity and unemployment, yet some so-called politicians are running into their fold. That’s not leadership; that’s cowardice.”
Sorunke, urged PDP members and supporters across Abeokuta South and Ogun State at large to stay focused and prepare to rescue power from what he called “political scavengers who are devouring the hopes of the people.”
“We must not be shaken. This is the time to be bold, to organize and to strengthen our resolve. The power truly belongs to the people, and we must take it back not for ourselves but for every market woman, every jobless youth and every struggling father trying to survive this nightmare.”
He assured party members that the PDP remains the most credible alternative, with a vision rooted in service, development and the restoration of dignity to governance.
“Don’t let the betrayal of a few shake your faith in the mission. We are not just a party, we are a movement for change, the real change. The storm may rage now, but victory is ahead. Stay the course. AK is OK, and PDP will rise again!”
