Youths in Delta South on Sunday identified a festering crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a major factor that could swing the odds in favour of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2027 elections.
“The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is a party to look up to. It is the party to go with. It will take us to the Promised Land come 2027,” they said.
The youths listed charisma, administrative experience, political sagacity, diplomatic disposition, international exposure and motivational leadership as qualities that have endeared Dr. Austin Orette to the people of Delta South Senatorial District.
“Dr. Austin Orette is not in the Delta South senatorial race to lose, but to win — and by the grace of God, he will win,” they added.
Gathering under the umbrella of the Dependable Movement (DM) of the NDC in Emevor, the youths resolved to work with elders and women across the district to ensure Orette emerges as senator in 2027.
In a statement delivered to journalists by the Coordinator of the NDC Dependable Movement, Oghenekaro Adigheji, the group praised the frontline aspirant for inspiring confidence among the people.
They argued that the district cannot afford to have its best talents remain abroad indefinitely when his leadership acumen is urgently needed at home.
The youths also backed Orette’s calls for restructuring, true federalism and devolution of power.
They commended the “world-class professional” for addressing the pressing socio-economic challenges facing the district.
“Now, more than ever, Delta South needs quality and focused leadership. The district is in dire need of someone who understands that leadership is service,” the statement read.
The group urged political leaders in Delta South to support Orette’s senatorial ambition, emphasizing his personality, charisma and leadership qualities.
They concluded that Dr. Austin Orette has a strong chance of winning the Delta South senatorial election in 2027.
