Thirteen persons have been burnt to death in an auto crash at Abule Panu, some metres away from Ose Bridge, on Owo-Ikare highway in Ondo State.
The horrific accident which occurred at about 10:14 am on Saturday claimed the lives of 13 commuters who were burnt beyond recognition on the spot.
One person was rescued alive but critically affected by the crash which involved two buses. The two buses, it was learnt, had a head-on collision.
Multiple sources attributed the cause to a burst type of one of the buses said to be coming from the Ikare axis, leading to loss of control and the attendant head-on collision with another bus coming from the opposite direction.
The Ondo Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ibitoye Samuel, confirmed the incident, saying a total of 14 people were involved with 13 of them burnt beyond recognition while one was rescued alive with grave injuries.
